AURORA R3 upgrade question
hEY PEEPS i bought an Aurora R3 desktop end of march 2011
and it has a
INTEL CORE I7-2600 3.40GHZ
System chipset Intel P67
875w psu
i have just ordered a new GPU and some more memory,
does anyone know whats the fastest proccessor i can stick in it, and what socket type it needs to be,
or certainly a good upgrade from what i currently have, or is it even worth it, i was tempted to just selling the lot and getting a new R4 but thought this would be cheaper
p.s im not interested in completely swapping out the M/B as the one i have works for now, unless anyone thinks theres a good Mb/CPU upgrade that will just shoe horn in,
but i understand the PSU/its plugs are prepriatory and really dont want to start completely re-building with new psu's etc

The i7-2600 is the fastest we validated. We sold the R3 with two i7-2600 CPUs. One could overclock higher than the other. What is the overclock ceiling on yours?

hi Chris,
honestly not a clue lol think i previously got it to 3.8GHZ. but i just use the profiles in the bois to do it, plus with the i7 cores i dont really beleive there is much oif a bottle neck if any, i have 16GB 1600mhz ram coming for it, and an ATI 7970 , but just thought if there was anytihing out there cpu wise that was plenty better i might as well chuck it in, but i had a look around, and as far as sandybridge goes, think the 2700 i7 was the only faster one they did,
thanks again for the reply,
