Alienware 14 Windows 10- Fan runs constantly even though CPU usage is 2%
Hi,
Since last week after a routine windows update my Alienware 14 fan started running constantly at high speed. It does stops sometimes in between for a second or two but then ramps up back to full speed.
My CPU usage is minimum with always less than 10% on an average and the laptop never heats up but still I can't get the fan to shut down.
Kindly suggest.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
You can try updating the Bios version to the latest (A09), also, there is an app that we know can cause this issue, so, please open Programs and Applications and look for the app named: Support Assist Agent (make sure it is the one that has the Agent part), and uninstall it, then restart and test the system.

My BIOS ver is latest A09 and I don't have Support Assist Agent installed in my Laptop :(
Can it be something else?
Thanks!

Hi,
First of all go to your BIOS setting (hit F2 at startup), search for "Advance options" there should be something like "Fan performance mode" if it's on fans would work full speed no mather of CPU usage. Check that first and disable it if it's on. This issue could be also because of Windows 10 (I had it also in Asus G752). I have to check but there is solution for that. When I find it would report it here.

So after some research I found some info that fans issue might be caused by CORTANA in Windows 10.
Here some more info:
