Hello Spaceengineer,

Can you please confirm what type of operating system you are using? Also, how exactly is the error related to the USB 3.0 ports? Is it because the error mentions something about the USB 3.0 ports or because you are using the recovery USB drive to reinstall Windows?

Rodrigo,

This system has Windows 8.1.  The error is related to the USB ports in that when I attempt to install the drivers for the USB 3.0 ports that I downloaded from support.dell.com, I get an error message that my hardware does not meet the minimum requirements for the software.

I am attempting to install Intel USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver v3.0.1.41 (A00) dated November 20, 2014.  The specific error message is "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software."

As I mentioned previously, I know that I have USB 3.0 because the order build sheet for my computer specifically states so.

I will upload the installation log file for your review if you tell me where to send it.

Hello Mark,

Thank you for explaining that. Have you installed the chipset drivers? You may need to install them first before installing the USB 3.0 driver. Click here to view the Dell drivers and downloads page.

Yep, all the other drivers have been installed.  In fact, I installed the HM87 chipset drivers before anything else.

Rodrigo,

I just sent you a PM with the contents of the installation log generated when the driver installer fails.

Anyone at Dell have a solution to this issue?  Also, is there really any benefit to the newer drivers?

For Windows 8.1, the USB 3.0 driver does not need to be installed. This is because Windows 8.1 made it part of the generic drivers so no installation is required for it. Please install the remaining drivers and check device manager to determine if you are missing any. If you are still missing drivers, they should show with a yellow caution sign in device manager.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the feedback.  There are no missing drivers and the ports work fine.  I will stop worrying about it.

You're welcome. That sounds good, it should work just fine then. Let me know if you need further assistance.

I get the exact same error code now, and it is showing an issue on Device manager. I wasn't updating anything but all of my usb ports have stopped working. It keeps failing to install the drivers even after updating everything and even restoring back to when the ports did work. I am unable to correct this issue, can it be a hardware issue coming out?
