Alienware 17 R3 Freezing (I think I have a temp solution) Windows 10
Hi Everyone,
New member and new 17 R3 I got yesterday. From the moment I got it, completely out of the box. I installed Adobe CC to do some work. It BSOD then after that would randomly (sometimes 1 minute sometimes 1 hour) completely lock up and freeze (no buttons work) and have to hard reset it.
Read a bunch of into and believe its related to the Intel card on board.
Updated Windows, Video drivers, etc (all drivers I could update including Firmware update) and nothing seemed to help.
PC is a 17 R3, 16gb RAM, 256 SSD + 1 TB HDD, NVIDIA 970M, etc.
Turns out, if you go into DEVICES and DISABLE the Intel HD graphics, then go back into DEVICES and ENABLE it again, the freezing doesnt happen. I tried to edit in Premiere Pro before I did this hack and it would freeze at some point guaranteed. After disable/enable the Intel graphics I worked for 6 hours straight without a BSOD or a freeze (cut/edit/render/export without a hiccup!!!
Question: Do Dell/Alienware staff patrol these boards? If so can you please look into this. I believe the drivers for the Intel graphics card are clashing or being loaded incorrectly.
Cheers,
Peter.

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, you're right with the information provided about disabling/enabling the Intel driver when you go into devices.
The BSOD is a know issue with this model, and the latest Intel driver in Dell website should fix it. Make sure you have the Version: 20.19.15.4390 ,A07. Also update the Bios driver to the latest Version: 1.2.13 ,1.2.13.
If you could please send me the mini dump files of the BSOD, I would appreciate it.
