Alienware Area-51 R2 Desktop - 2nd GPU SLI issues
I order my area-51 on 12/18/14 i received it on 12/29/14. I tested some of the games i play with 4k resolution on ultra settings and determined it was probably worth adding the 2nd GPU.
i ordered a second GTX 980 from DELL, but when i started digging into it, i determined i would also need a SLI Bridge, which i wasn't able to order through dell. they refered me to amazon or ebay.
now i'm running into a problem where i ordered my system with the 1500w power supply option. more than enough to power 4gpu's. we'll i'll be damned if they didn't ship any of the extra modular cables to go from the power supply to my 2nd GPU. so now i have a OEM modular power supply with out the extra cables i need to power additinonal system components.
i called tech support and the answer i got was the system shipped the way it was ordered, single GPU configuration.
how am i suppose to DIY a 2nd GPU if they dont ship the parts that would of been included with the system board and power supply if i had just bought those components off the shelf.
this is becoming a huge headache the only reason i went with an alienware to begin with was i didn't want to have to deal with PARTS issues.
they sell 2 way and 3 way SLI configs, maybe i just assumed it wouldn't be a big deal to add on the parts to upgrade to 2way 3way SLI down the road.
if you are considering a 2way or 3way config do yourself a huge favor and just order it that way, because i think you will find, as i did, dell has no desire to help you after the fact.

Hello RobBob420!
Please send me a PM with your service tag and a brief description of the problem so I check if there is something I can do to help you finding the power cable and the SLI Bridge.
