Alienware M17x R4 How to make laptop only run on Dedicated graphics card

Hi,

I currently own a Alienware M17x R4 and I am trying to find out if there is a way to disable my integrated graphics card and only run on the the dedicated. I have tried disabling this and it just makes my screen black. I looked for an hdmi output from the GTX660 but there is only one and that would be from the integrated one. I just want to be able to start my computer and just use my dedicated graphic card. So that means disabling the integrated one. I am always plugged in, always running on high perfomance. So the integrated one is no need as I dont need to save power.

You cannot disable the Intel GPU - all video data passes through it on its way to the display panel.

This is true, I've seen some people using unlocked BIOS to have that option but that's something that may harm the system.

Hi run my gtx675m card permanently by just pressing fn & f7 then restarting my laptop and that works fine for me as I have my M17x r4 plugged in 99% of the time, hope this helps

This is also true, depending on the configuration, the Fn+F7 will disable the integrated graphics, you can try that too.

Hi, I'm having the same problem.

I got a GTX 660M GPU. My pc detect the card correctly but is not working. I run the 3dmark 10 and the integrated Card score higher than my discrete card. I tried to just use the discrete card pressing fn + f7 and when the pc boot and request me to enter the password after that, the screen turns just black and the pc reboot. After that the pc do the same just reboot and reboot after the black screen.

I remove the graphics card opening my m17x and place it again... After that I was able to use the laptop but with the same problem... avaliable to use just the Intel Graphics card... I trid to uninstall the drivers and reinstall it again (320.18 version ) and after reboot, press the fn + f7 again to switch, but I have the same problem... My nvidia GPU isn't working even the pc detect the card correctly.
