Well the 6700 comes from dell with it or well did when they sold it I got mine with a 6700 and 970 ... but as for the 6700k I believe it was offered with liquid cooling  but I can't find a d finite answer but does make sense for overclock perspective of the CPU

As for bios update  I can't answer that  on versions that will or won't support but if worried update otherwise try  and see if it boots great if not swap old CPU back and update. I don't update bios unless I have a reason

I am pretty sure that I can swap the chips, but thinking to take advantage of the quad core processor, some bio changes will need to be made, not to mention the cooling fan I have would need to be replaced as well. Do you know the fan model you currently have installed in your PC? I am guessing you have the same cover that forces the air out of the system in the back?

yea its the same cooling shroud/fan , nothing changed much for the cooling part with  the exception of  the  liquid cooling module..  between this  system  from what I can see.. but if you search the net you will see *NEW* units being sold on amazon,  etc with the 6700k .. so it may help  to determine the cooling it  actually  has ..
