Alienware x51 wifi card

Hi all i was wondering if there was a way to get a wifi card for the X51 R1 with bluetooth? Also how do i go about getting the replacement mini wifi card for the 1502 faulty one i got me a new wifi router and this card in here the 1502 is not good or something. If i can replace with a bluetooth one would be cool but if not i would like the replacement one.

A DW1702, 1703, 1704, 1705 (WiFi & B/Tooth) may work, but confirmation from someone else would be good that it will actually work in/on your platform.

Hello cruser12!

The wireless cards that we validated for this system are DW1502 and the DW1506 buy they don’t support Bluetooth.

What is exactly the problem with your wireless card?

You can get a after-market USB dongle to provide BlueTooth. Antenna ends up outside machine which is often better anyway.

Keep an eye on that 1502 card and test it well before warranty expires. Thank Dell for installing laptop WiFi-card in desktop.

Yeah i thought Dell recalled the 1502 card is why i asked about the 1506 if it is indeed recalled then they should send me a new one regardless if it works or not, i'm beginning to wonder if this alienware x51 is just not a glorified laptop in a external case.

If you are seeing problems in Device Manager then it might be bad hardware. As directed by tech support, you might try re-seating card, check antennae connection and routing (there was an issue about that), and clean install of latest drivers.

If all that is OK, but you are just having random connection problems ... try a different router channel or encryption level. It helps if you have other WiFi devices to check router. Might also have something to do with your environment (heavy WiFi traffic or external interference).

Now, even if it's working 100% (and I suggest you make it so)  ... I still suggest a real ethernet wire. It is much faster and reliable. Just because something supports a WiFi connection, doesn't mean you have to use it. Using WiFi on Non-Portable devices is pretty silly.

MAYBE (Big Maybe). If there is a slot for it ... if there is an antennae for it pre-installed (very un-likely).

1. That's why I suggested USB. What is the problem?

2. What exactly are these BlueTooth devices that you are so keen on connecting?

In general, I don't assume anything works unless I try it myself or learn from a trusted source.

the issue is my alienware lighted  keyboard takes up 2 USB slots then my mouse and webcam take up 2 more. that leaves me with the front usb ports and one high speed 3.0  port so not much left on usb ports and i dont want to hang something off the front of my computer.
