Spookz did the last two swaps that I know of, but whether he can be contacted here for help or advice, I'm not sure. I haven't done a swap in my R4 yet, but I fielded posts that popped up recently
I don't have time to help shop for someone's mthrbrd & put a list together, do not have time to consult other than what I post here, but Asus & MSI have an excellent track record in Aurora & Area-51. Our stock mthrbrds are made by MSI, for example. I'm using an AMD Sabertooth 990Fx in my A51, found somewhere in here: Success Haswell + USB3.0
Every possible way to 'induce' an MIO board to respond to a new motherboard as the basic USB device it is, can be found in my post above & here: MIO Board Died & if these steps fail we simply purchase a new one, based on which part# is found on the one you have there, easily done these days given MIOs cost $50 or less. Here, Alienware Aurora R4 ALX MIO Board Issue @Warrior purchased a pre-built ALX with Asus mthrbrd from Justin on eBay, yet, a simple Windows install *** out the MIO, which is something that appears to happen on a 1-in-1000 basis, which is why we advise to disconnect the MIO USB connector from the mthrbrd USB header during a new Windows install, to avoid the issue which has no explanation & seemingly can't be fixed. Warrior opted for a new MIO & was back in b'ness with a Majik Mio, but, we gave it the kitchen sink before declaring the original 'bunk'. Again, the steps taken were to try to pair an MIO to a new mthrbrd, & when it didn't pan out a new one was tried, but it may have taken two new ones before one got all Majik, ok? It may take a lot of reading, but all of this has been covered & now u can link to the info u need to work with these fussy things
All Auroras use a micro-ATX 9.6 x 9.6 form factor. AMD. u-ATX. Hmmmm. I would probably opt for an Intel or wait for new AMD Zen CPU & motherboards to launch, but I guess an older (990Fx when possible) AM3+ socket / chipset might be a low-cost way to put a system together. I don't know the best bang-for-buck u-ATX platform for AMD, I do know the Maximus VIII Gene is the top Skylake board as seen in Spookz build
recommend a nice combo that would work with the MIO board
I'd like to think that any motherboard has just as good a chance as any other. Pop a Maximus VIII in yours? Sppokz worked, but that doesn't mean yours will, but it probably will & if not?, buy a new MIO til it does = my BEST advice
Best way to know is to image / clone your hard drive right now onto a different drive, boot into your new motherboard, see what happens ... when moving from Intel-to-Intel, bottong should occur easily, test for case lights to come on etc right then and there using a known-good system image
sometimes an AMD will boot up even though the drive was Intel-based, if not, try the Windows DVD & 'attempt startup repair', see if that helps. If case lights come on? Now u can install Windows clean if you like, knowing you should pull MIO USB during install, to avoid @Warrior's fate

Re-use stock CPU cooler? > ASETEK Retention Ring Kits for Intel AMD when needed

Part# 3NPG0 ??? ~$20
Aurora motherboard swap is a good google term + image search, maybe link to build logs etc
do some research / reading & best of luck
