Aurora-R4, won't post after installing new RAM, help please!

Hi guys,

I've just tried to install 32gb DDR3 Dominator Platinum 1600MHz which I was confident would work in my Aurora-R4. Unfortunately it didn't post, so I stuck back in the original 16gb of ram and it now won't post with that in either. Any thoughts, I'm starting to worry.

Spec:

Aurora R4 / Win 10 / i7 3930k / Nvidia GTX 1070 / Sound Blaster Zx

Kind regards

"All, I cannot speak for retail memory but here is our data.

9W02G Patriot 2GB, 2133MHz, 256X64, 8, 240, XMP
GDN7X Hynix 2GB, 1600MHz, 256X64, 8, 240, 1RX8
VT8FP Samsung 4GB, 1600MHz, 256X64, 8, 240, 2RX8
66GKY Micron 8GB, 1600MHz, 512X64, 8, 240, 2RX8
* Four Non-ECC DDR3 Memory slots
* Maximum 32GB. The only 32GB configuration we validate is four of the Dell 66GKY 8GB,1600MHz,512X64,8,240,2RX8
* For 2133MHz XMP ram, you must go into the Bios -Advanced -Frequency/Voltage Control -Extreme Memory Profile and choose Profile 1

I might try to boot with one ram module - be it new or old - if one stick means it's a go, I might enter Bios & load default values; if I can't access Bios I might remove CMOS coin-cell battery for a minute (may as well test with a voltmeter while it's out for 2.7v or better) - place or replace it in its holder - try to boot up, knowing the values will all now be at default, would require intervention for any personal settings it had prior (to you the reader, note the need above to have the XMP profile enabled). Since I won't be on my R4 today I assume mine has an XMP on/off setting. Lastly, it is of course imperative the ram module is seated correctly - by its standards - not yours, lol. For that, we might try one ram module one-at-a-time in each of the four dim slots til boot & video output occurs, then proceed from there. I'm short on time today, this is the best I could do as a push in some form of a direction

Aurora R4 Memory search:

For the record, I'm using 4x2Gb of Crucial Ballistix Elite 1866, runs purrrfect but when I switch in Kingston HyperX T1 1866 it just plain has issues I can't seem to fix (ask it to restart & it shuts down instead, every time). It's difficult to say that all 1600/1866/2133 memory by brand & type will work in Aurora, which is why Dell only validates as compatible what they sell. Only way to know if Dom Plats work is if you hear someone else has that setup or you try it yourself pass/fail yadda yadda

Hello, I suspect that you might not be installing the RAM properly or that there might be something in one of the slots, like dust (or at least I hope).  The first thing to try is to blow out the slots with a compressed air duster (I suppose it might be okay to blow on it, just try not to get it wet).  After that, install the 32GB RAM.  Make sure you are securely pushing the sticks down and that they are seated fully.

If it still does not post then try using only 1 stick of RAM in SLOT1 (labeled on motherboard small print).  If SLOT 1 does not work then try SLOT2.

Get back to me on what happens.

Sorry, I thought I'd replied yesterday.

Managed to fix the problem, it was a bios setting and all works fine now.

Many thanks!
