No Remote wakeup in BIOS

Hello,

I want to use Wake on Line and I have configured all (I can receive magic packets, I've made a test) but I'm unable to find in my BIOS A11 the remote wakeup option that should be there (in the power management setup) according to my Aurora manual...

Anybody has the same problem ? Or a solution ?

Hi Essilon,

We have several editions of Alienware Aurora, such as “Alienware Aurora ALX”, “Alienware Aurora R4”, “Alienware Aurora Deimos”, etc. Please reply with the exact System Model Number of your Alienware Aurora computer so that I can research on the issue.

Well, if no BIOS Wake-On-Lan option, it's likely already on. It's been my experience that you can only wake consumer machines from S3-Sleep (not off). You control reaction to Power-Manage & Magic Packets in Device Manager (on Network Adapter) options.

Remember you need a program that actually sends Magic Packets to wake the machine.

There is a similar tech called Intel-vPro/AMT on business machines like OptiPlex. Pretty sure that will wake from Off if properly configured.

Hello,

Thanks.

The model is apparently just "Aurora" ; I don't see no other precision, especially in AlienAutopsy or in the general informations in Windows.

Tesla1856, you're the complete extinction prohibits WoL so far...

But I need to put it in sleep mode ; the complete extinction prohibits WoL so far...

Glad you got it working.

Right. The Aurora is a "consumer" or home/gaming machine. I don't think is supports Intel vPro/AMT. It can only be asleep to WoL (not Off).

Thought i'd post here since this one is still unanswered.  I was using version, i think a07 for the longest time because it has the wake on lan option that works, but had to upgrade to a11 to resolve an issue i was having with the cooling system.  Ever since A11, there is no more wake/boot on lan.  Keeping a machine in sleep mode is not the same.  I should be able to keep my machine powered off, and power it on via other devices on my lan.  I reported this to support and was told it may get fixed in the next bios revision but its been a while.  Any change of a12 being released with this feature added back in?
