Restoring Alienware M11x back to factory default problem.

I'm trying to restore an 2010 M11x back to factory condition, the problem is when I hit F8 during startup there's no Dell Recovery option (the recovery partition is where it's supposed to be).

I've made a Datasafe recovery USB, but when I try to boot from it, it gives me an windows bootloader error.

Any idea on what I could do?

Yes, I'm running W7. The problem is that I can't access the F8 Repair menu, it gives me an bootloader error.

Have tried bcdedit to fix the issue, but it still doesn't work. I finally found a solution, booted up Mini Xp from Hirens boot cd and copied the factory.wim image from the recovery partition to an external drive and used imagex to restore it.

So I got the machine back to factory settings, but the F8 problem is still there, but at least I know what to do in the future. Hopefully there will be Windows 10 support i the future for the M11X.

Hi,

I assume you are running Windows 7 with your M11x, is that correct? On the F8 menu, you have to select the Repair Your Computer option and then look for the Alien Respawn option on the list. After you select Alien Respawn, the system prompt if you want to run the recovery partition to restore to factory settings. Its possible you may show Dell DataSafe instead of Alien Respawn on the list, but they both do the same thing.
