Some performance issues when AMD Enduro is enabled.
Hi, I am new on this forum and I recently bought an Alienware M17X R4 which comes with an i7 4710mq CPU, 16GB of RAM and a Radeon R9 M290X. I saw reviews of previous Alienware laptops using the HD 7970M and having similar issues, those were old reviews. The issue is that when you had Enduro enabled, the framerate would be good, but not optimal, disabling Enduro and running those games would yield in some significant FPS gains. I did some testing myself and and noticed that in some benchmarks, like Lost Planet 2 on DX9 mode, with Enduro, would score around 92fps in average, and disabling Enduro would go as high as 108fps, while on DX11 mode, it would go from 51.6 to 56.9 which is not a big increase.
Noticed that quite a lot of games using the DirectX9 codepath and that runs over 100fps would be severely handicapped when Enduro is enabled. While I also noticed that when you are GPU bound, like for example on many DX11 tittles, is a wash. So I suspect that this issue is more prominent when your FPS are much faster and hit a CPU bottleneck (Like 300fps) and with Enduro enabled.
Running Devil May Cry on DX9 it would jump from 168fps with Enduro enabled, to 312fps with Enduro disabled, while on DX10 it would jump from 262fps to 294fps, showing that the performance inncrease on my DX10/DX11 tittles was much smaller.
Then I tried STALKER COP, and with Enduro Enabled, it would score 80fps average on DX11 mode, with Enduro disabled raised to 81fps, which is nothing.
Did the same testing with DX9, with Enduro would score around 131 average, and disabled would run at 130fps which is a wash.
Tested STALKER Clear Sky on DX10.1 mode, and with Enduro enabled would run 99 average, with Enduro enabled, disabling it yield me 106 which is not big deal.
I am using the latest AMD Crimson drivers beta 15.11.1 from November 30th and the latest Intel graphics beta drivers 15.40.12.4326 that dates from november 21 as their WHQL would give random lockups with the latest Windows 10 build 10586.
So it seems that after two years, the performance impact with Enduro enabled exists but only when you get crazy high FPS that triggers a CPU bottleneck, I wonder if everyone else is having this weird behavior.

I've got a machine with Intel-AMD "switchable" graphics. Not sure if that's the same but I never could get it working properly again after Win10-64 upgrade. I had to disable the AMD card (lame but it's not a gaming-machine anyway).
I liked STALKER also. So, what STALKER is next for you? It looks like dev team split?

Well it worked fine for me using latest AMD Crimson drivers and latest Intel beta drivers that dates from late November. It could be that may be your AMD card is busted.
