Unable to turn off lights Alienware 15

Unlike many others who can't seem to get their lights to work, mine are doing just fine, all the lights are on. But that's just the thing, for the past couple of weeks, they've been always on with no way of turning them off.

I can make new themes in AlienFX, I can select dark mode through the task bar icon,... just nothing seems to go through to the lights themselves. The only error message I've gotten is when I run the AlienFX tester: "Its seems there is some problem with the AlienFX board."

All the possible quick fixes (yes, I've reinstalled CC---duuh), done and deemed useless. Is it a loose wire?

Hi, 

Try uninstalling the Alienware Command Center application and doing a power drain. Follow the steps below to do a power drain. After doing the power drain, boot into Windows and install the Command Center software again. Try running the AlienFX tester again to confirm if you receive the same message. Also, make sure your system is running the latest Bios version.

  • Turn the system off and disconnect the AC adapter. 
  • Disconnect the battery.
  • Disconnect all external devices (USB devices, headsets, external monitors, etc.)
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Connect everything again and turn on the system.
