I'm afraid the wireless cards we have with tested compatibility for the 17xR4 do not include the 7260.
I don't know if the motherboard will support it without any further tweaking.
But if I recall correctly, there were some users that were able to pull it off.

Do you know which cards it supports? And you're saying it's not gonna work or you can't say for sure and it's gonna take tweaking?

I know for a fact that Bigfoot wireless cards tend to work with our systems.

I swapped in an AC7260 on mine as well when the centrino started to act up.. Bluetooth works great, 2.4GHz works great, 5GHz can't get a connection at all.  Other laptops work fine in the same location using 5GHz.  Not sure what my issue is, but the 7260 did solve my problem with connections dropping all the time.

Did new/stock machine support 5ghz wireless? I don't know for sure, but seems like antenna system might need to be a little different to support both 2.4 AND 5 ghz.

I suppose it also doesn't work 3-6 feet away from router in same room?
