Wireless Card issue possibly??
Hello i have a Alien Ware x51 R2.. Have had this computer little over a year now... it has never gave me any trouble till about 4 months ago.. i got something on it and it basically was slowly shutting windows down... wouldn't allow it to open files and so forth... no connecting to the internet when hard wired...
So i did a fresh install of windows... " windows 7 because i hate 8" and everything was good to go... here is the specs on the computer below...
After about 3 months i am having the issue with the wireless card staying connected to my router... i will be in the middle of looking at a web page and when i click on a link it has discontented just that easy... not even doing anything... i click on trouble shoot connection error and when i click fix it then restarts the wireless card... after that takes place it will connect back to my router but only for a short time... i have check the IP address and made sure i am not having a IP conflict... I do know a little about computers but this one has me puzzled.... Maybe it's something easy to fix and i am just missing it...... I HOPE...
Thanks in advance for any helpful words!!!

Hi,
Just to confirm, this issue does not happen when you use the LAN correct? How is your signal strength, do you usually have a strong signal? Open Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, right-click on your WiFi adapter, click Properties, click the Power Management tab, and then clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box. That setting can sometimes turn off the WiFi adapter.

The tower is too far away from the router to try the lan connection it's at the other side of the the house... signal will range from 2 bars to full bars... when the wireless is rest.. I am not home at the momment but will try the steps you have provided soon as I get there.. and follow up with the info

done as you said with the turning off this device to save power... the box was checked... but i think it was possibly a driver issue... right after posting this yesterday morning i had around 8 or 9 windows updates start to download and install... after this i had no problems with it... and i have been on the computer for around a hour now and nothing is kicking me off...
Thanks for the info!!!! Problem solved!!!

Thank you for confirming this. I think you might be right about this being a driver issue. Let us know if you need further assistance.
