load times slow with aurora?
well I know this is a stupid way to measure the speed of my system. But recently i noticed in Starcraft II that when the maps is being loaded i'm usually one of the last ones to load. My friends that play with me have substantially slower systems than mine. I know i dont have a ssd but my friends don't either. I have a 10,000 rpm which is the next best thing to raid or a ssd right? Not sure why my system seems to lag behind others much more inferior.

I assume these systems aren't physically side-by-side. You can test your HDD speed with www.hdtune.com or CrystalDiskMark.
Have you checked your network connection speed? You should have 100 or 1000 mbps connection (depending on your router/switch model). You may only appear to be last because of the slow comm.
Also, check your speed and ping at http://www.speedtest.net .

my speedtest is showing 45 mbps down and 5 mbps up...downloading hd tune pro now to run some benchmarks..
Also, i didnt know about the load screen with hosts. I guess its a little misleading but i really seem to be loading slower than other people. Maybe I'm host everytime cuz i have a good system and internet? lol lets hope..

hey parksxps1124 , Usually what i have found with starcraft 2 when ur playing with 4 or 6 players if you get host of these games it will say you are loading till every other person is loaded. You'll notice this is happening when there is people with slow computers the game wont start till they are loaded. ( when ur host it will say your still loading but uve actually finished) Hope that helped, Thats my understanding of how the starcraft 2 load screens work.
*edit* My Aurora loads the single player skirmishes real fast (try testing that) and multi is as i stated above

HDTune speed sounds fine.
Speedtest sounds fine. You didn't mention your ping.
Be sure to check your network card in control panel and make sure you are connecting to router/switch at 100 or 1000 (not 10).

I can solve this issue loading times can be changed and the computer can boot faster so here we go.
if you are running windows xp service pack 3 here is what you do.
1. go to control panel by selecting start menu then control panel.
2. go to system double click
3. go to advance tab
4. click the advance button for virtual memory
5. on the first tab tell it to adjust for best performance (see what users in windows xp vista and even windows 7 dont understand is the fanct start bar the green and blue one in xp and the black one in vista and windows 7 takes 256 megs of physical memory from your machine just to run the stupid theme)
5. then select the virtual memory section so that it reads the following.
if you have 1 gig of ram set it to this.
1000 minimum (if you have 2 gigs or 4 gigs of ram this setting increases to 2000 minimum and then 4000 maximum
3000 maximum
if you have 6 gigs or better dont worry about the virtual memory part because it wont freaking matter.
click set then your done restart your computer.
now for vista all you need to do is tell it adjust for best performance
1, go to start menu click control panel
2. go to system double click
3. select from the left side of the window advance system settings
select settings from the performance box
then tell it best performance
then thats it
no need for virtual memory in vista or windows 7
this will help speed the machine up greatly.
now for the tough and sad part there is nothing you can do for star craft II right now to many users online at once have slowed down the servers a lot just wait for more servers to come online and a update patch for loading time.
