Alienware 17 R4 BIOS SKL1.2.3_KBL1.2.4 ,1.2.4

I have some problem with update new BIOS SKL1.2.3_KBL1.2.4 ,1.2.4 on my laptop Alienware 17 R4.

Dell SupportAssist purpose to me update my BIOS to new version. Then update was complete, with laptop became some strange things. On the Camera area I had observe indicator which shine with red light, fans working in chaos conditions, Alienware FX keyboard lights turning off and turning on after few seconds.

Then I tryed to downgrade BIOS to the privious version, it's cann't be provided because new version of BIOS saved from downgrading. I ask about this problem in service centre, and they told that I must wait for a new version of BIOS, looking for temperature of my laptop and try to avoid playing games.

Maybe somebody had the same problems, can you give me advice what to do? Thanks

I've the same kind of problems, additionnally, the first time I attempted to flash this version, I wouldn't even have the new blocks writing BIOS screen and my PC would just restart after 15-20s of black screen upon what was supposed to be the flashing itself.

Finally found a way that worked for me to properly flash, if you are using XTU, even if you disabled the CPU performance mode in the BIOS, try going in your XTU and roll back all the parameters to their default values - I did this for both CPU and memory. 5s after I did this, and without even trying to attempt a new flash yet, my PC restarted and the flash has been successfully done, fixing the couple issues I've had with the failed flash.

Hope it will help you.

I'm having an issue with this same BIOS update as well. Hoping someone can help. I believe it pulls the BIOS update from the site, but when it installs, it installs with setting the BIOS version to the same one as the one it's trying to replace. Please let me know if you are able to view the link below, for a screenshot.

To paint the picture, I downloaded the newest version of the BIOS from March/2018, from the Dell support site. During the installation process, at the last step of the install, you can see in the install window that it states: "Confirm - Replace '1.2.3' BIOS with '1.2.3' BIOS?"

Are you able to see this screenshot? https://www.dell.com/community/media/gallerypage/image-id/2645i335E8AAF280FB53C

I had updated the BIOS version 1.2.4. Thus far I decided to cancel the latest attempt to update the bios as the version is identical to that already installed 1.2.4.

If Dell can confirm why this is happening I might be persuaded to try to the update but only if the update is indeed different from BIOS version 1.2.4    perhaps 1.2.4.2 but cuts off the .2 extension. Thus far - This is a mistake Alienware and Dell should be more responsive to as these laptops are high end laptops and deserve better support!!
