Do you think I need to do that?  The keyboard is working fine only the Windows function key is not working.

Make sure your keyboard is clean and you’ve run an ePSA Diagnostic test inside of your BIOS options using the F12 keys while your restarting.

Then if it still doesn’t work, you should try reinserting the Keyboard Membrane Cable or as it’s called:

KB_MB

I think you need to run a diagnostic though, just to verify it.

Before running a diagnostic, cracking your system hardware open, and taking a keyboard membrane off, first, try FN+F6. That enabled/disabled the windows key on my Alienware.

I am astounded that DELL SUPPORT is not telling you to do that first, and also a bit annoyed that there isn't any easily accessible documentation about this type of issue.

Anyways, hope it helps, it solved my problem.

Try the Keyboard Troubleshooter at Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.

Check also at Settings > Time & Language > Region & Language to make sure the correct Language appears, then choose Advanced Keyboard Settings to see if a different input method is chosen in the dropdown menu.

Win button for me recently stopped working and I though this was due to Win11 update I recently installed. Apparently, I might have pressed FN+F6 and switched it off...

The keys that enabled the windows key again on my M17 R3 was pressing FN & Windows key rather than F6. Hope this helps.
