Perform a hard reset

  1. Power off your Dell PC
  2. Disconnect the AC adapter or power cord, and remove the battery (for Dell laptop PCs).
  3. Disconnect all external devices or peripherals like USB drives, printer cables, and media cards (SD/xD).
  4. Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain residual power.
  5. Connect the AC adapter or power cord and the battery (for Dell laptop PCs).

If your Dell PC still does not power on or boot into the operating system, follow the appropriate guide below based on your Dell PC's symptoms. You can also follow the instructions below to run a hardware diagnostic check on your Dell PC.

I’ve tried that of course. It is no sign of LED illumination on the power button when press.

Hi @TamFaker  without connecting charger to 15 R2, having plugged into ac mains, does the charger's laptop plug LED work? If no, check if there is a fuse in the ac power cord and/or check that ac power cord plug into charger is not damaged or loose.

Does the charger's laptop plug LED change colour or stop working when plugged into 15 R2? If yes, will the 15 R2 boot with main battery cable disconnected (without removing main battery)?

Yes. The led of the adaptor is on. I’ve tried all of you mentioned solutions. There is no sign of power on the laptop, and no sign of power when press the skull button ( power button).
Also, I’ve noticed that I left it connected to battery at night and found out it was still warm in the morning. ( the area that I circled in the picture is still warm if I let it connect to battery cable next to it even though there is no sign of power running on the laptop)

Hi @TamFaker  thank you for sharing update complete with image.

Please exercise caution when leaving the 15 R2 unattended with charger connected and with the charger's LED light on. The fault is not obvious and there is an undefined risk that the 15 R2 has an electrical short which can get hot or ignite.

Having removed the 15 R2 rear base panel, is there a smell of something burning? Does the HDD get very warm or hot? Having disconnected the HDD from the main board (there is no requirement to remove the HDD), does the 15 R2 power on?

Hi @TamFaker   have you noticed that the main battery charge has diminished? If the main battery is not being charged, check on the 15 R2 internal charger socket condition and replace. This is the most likely problem when there is no power, and it is easy to fix with installation of a new charger socket.

The HHD is not warm or hot. It is fine. But if the battery is bad, laptop should be still on when I use the adapter, right? I unplugged the battery cable and used the direct power supply from adaptor. Laptop still not on.

The DC jack is slightly colored (burned), but it’s been like that before. My question: if the DC jack is broken, can the laptop be powered on when connects to the battery? ( the battery is still full charged cause I was working on my laptop, and it shut down. Also, I saw a little spark when I connected battery cable, so it still has charge)
