That model is 5 years old now so the first thing to check is the battery. It could be weak or failing since 2 years of life is common now. Chargers don't gradually die but batteries do. See all the info here--
Could you list your specs and what came with the laptop originally?
I believe that depending on the specs, wattage can be an issue such as my Alienware 15 r2 which came with a 180w adapter but after plugging in a 240w it solved all draining issues and performance issues.
I also believe that installing any optional drivers via Windows Settings should fix it and make sure the Game Ready Driver from NVIDIA is the latest version.
