The crazy part is, I can help you. I am just not going to be permitted to help you.
I have a 17R3 with a dead motherboard but a working UHD screen. The problem is, it belongs to DELL.
It was exchanged for a different model under warranty but due to their ineptitude, they haven't collected the 17R3 yet. I could easily remove the screen and ship it but getting DELL to permit that....wel, you'd have better luck parting the red sea, reading latin with your eyes closed or conversing with Mother Teresa.
Hi @gringo_sweets welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.
Your Screen panel options are in this database Here. Use the Dell part number, DP/N to search on internet for new or old screen panel, etc. Hope this is what you requested.
Thanks for the offer - that sounds really great. I am willing to take a shot at it...is there a Dell case number you can PM me so that the Cust Service Rep can possibly speed along any opportunity here? It is worth a shot... Or any other advice - similar phone number to call, etc.
Thank you. I went to this database as one of my options. As you can see if you scroll to the UHD screens at the bottom, they are all out of stock. Please see for yourself - As they are in most other online stores. That is why I asked the 2 questions in the original post. Where can I get one reliably or can I downgrade to a FHD 30-pin display and if so, how? Thanks.
I don't think you can downgrade. If the motherboard doesn't have a ziff socket for both, then the board is made uniquely for either FHD or UHD in which case, changing it seems all but impossible. Assuming all of the pinouts are there for the FHD, you'd have to know what each pinout location is for, then try to manually match them and solder it. Honestly, you'd have an easier time convincing DELL to sell you the screen they will have from my defect unit once they get off their gluteal muscle and recover it.
Hi @gringo_sweets thank you sharing update. The earlier post offered access to a 17 R3 Monitor database and Dell Part Numbers to assist with your online search for a suitable replacement monitor, panel, etc. There was no implied confirmation that any of these Monitors or their parts were available for purchase from that vendor.

That is unfortunate to say the least.

Get DELL to agree and I'll go along.
