17 R3, which drivers to install?

I have an Alienware 17 R3 with the Intel 8260 wireless card. When I look at the drivers to download, it show 4 drivers, 2 under Modem/communications, and 2 under Network. Surely 1 card doesn't require 4 drivers?

  1. Intel Wireless Bluetooth 8260 Driver https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=5pwtg
  2. Intel Wireless 8260 Driver https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=tt86c
  3. Intel 3160 7260 3165 7265 8260 and 8265 Bluetooth Driver https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=yv365
  4. Intel 3165/7265/8260/8265 Wi-Fi Driver https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=19G25

Do I need all 4 files? Which order should I install them? Why does it take 4 drivers for 1 board?

Welcome to the Dell Community  @BillyEll

Do a search for the Hardware ID's

https://www.wikihow.com/Find-Hardware-ID

Then you can pick the driver that applies to that ID.

WiFi first then Bluetooth if it is installed???

Best regards,

You need two drivers, one for the WiFi chipset on the card and the other for the Bluetooth chipset on the card.  As for which one is best, I personally would (and do) just go to Intel instead to get the latest drivers directly from them.  If you're not sure which WiFi card is actually in your system, you'd have to check the 4-character DEV code that will be shown in the Device Manager properties of the Unknown Network Controller or whatever it gets called when there's no driver currently installed.  But if you're running a recent version of Windows, it should already have some sort of driver that works, in which case just check the Network Adapters section of Device Manager to see what model WiFi card is listed there, then go get that from Intel.
