17 R4, GTX 1070 won't detect
I just bought a refurbished alienware 17 r4 with a gtx 1070 8G VRAM and an i7 6700HQ but I can't get the gpu to show either in the BIOS or device manager.
- updated all drivers (BIOS, graphics, chipset..).
- used FN +F7 to switch to performance mode (gpu default)
-GeForce experience also doesn't detect the card
-opened bios but couldn't find a way to enable discrete mode as default (bios 1.6.0)
-reinatalled older 1.5. 0 version for the sake of seeing if I could the card to detect
-opened device manager, checked off the show hidden items option
Updated to Windows 1o build 18.
-still nothibg
Uinstalled so
I am desperate, I am running out of ideas.
PLEASE HELP

Hi @NickyLarson welcome to this free user-to-user Alienware laptop discussion forum.
Alienware 17 R4 Video specifications. The Integrated GPU and Discrete GPU should both be acknowledged in your BIOS Main tab.
Your i7 6700HQ iGPU and GTX 1070 dGPU should both be listed within Device Manager's Display adapters.
The Free Download HWiNFO Sofware | Installer & Portable for Windows, DOS System Summary will include both GPU information, toggle GPU #0 (iGPU) or GPU #1 (dGPU) beneath the GPU icon.
