Recently, my notebook (Alienware 17 R4, purchased a couple years ago) started making this weird helicopter / buzzing sound almost all the time - if the processor does any work at all, it starts. Apparently, the Realtek audio driver is the issue. I installed the native Windows driver and it stopped.
BUT
I make music with Reason / a MIDI controller / ASIO driver, and the native Windows driver didn't work at all with them! No sound could be made with the software. So, it seems I'm stuck with the noise, even while trying to make music.
It seems our incredibly expensive laptops have garbage sound hardware in them and there is no support for ASIO. Utterly ridiculous. They couldn't even put Realtek HD Audio into these things. Just "Realtek Audio." Probably so it would work with their stupid Alienware Sound Center program.
Yep, I'm getting a random solid white noise using any DAW music software (reason or ableton), cuts in/out whenever it wants to, using ASIO or other sound driver. My old laptop that this replaced never did that.
Has there been a fix for the Alienware sound driver issues yet? I've been getting a random solid white noise using any DAW music software (reason or ableton), cuts in/out whenever it wants to, using ASIO or other sound driver. Cant find any solution.
