Support for Alienware 17 R4, Service Manual, Diagnostics Light Codes says 2,3 = No memory or RAM (Random-Access Memory) detected, and 3.1 = Coin-cell battery failure.
Code 2,3 is usually fixed by cleaning and reseating the RAM cards. Touching the RAM Card's electrical connections is not recommended, it can leave human oil residue behind. The System Board (aka Motherboard) gets covered in dust, the extraction fan blades collect debris, etc. and a good clean with can of dry air, or air puffer is always recommended when laptop base is opened.
Code 3.1 is usually fixed by Clearing CMOS settings. The coin battery wire's plug is captivated in its socket, and pulling the wire so that the wire snapped, might have damaged the System Board's socket. Please use a bright light to investigate if the coin battery's plug is correctly captivated and if one or both the socket's internal captivation tabs are broken.
