17 R5, Gaming Laptop disabled by AWCC 5.2.100
The new Dell Alienware Command Center (AWCC) update application version 5.2.100.0 will not load. Older versions will not load. When is Dell going to provide customers, users with the requested AWCC diagnostic tool to fix these problems?
The AWCC Home, Library, FX and Fusion tabs do not load. Our new Alienware 17 R5 Gaming Laptop is now Disabled. All lights are dark.
Event Viewer did not find any AWCC problems, SupportAssist tests all passed, Windows Image Servicing and Management Tool passed, Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Hi @James1362 thank you for sharing the @Ahmed Samir21 Visual C++ fix. Have installed the Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes All-in-One Aug 2020. AWCC v5.2.100.0 loading is successful. Thank you.

Same has happened on my Area-51M R1. The fan speeds are no longer being controlled and the system starts to stutter when I play games.

G7 7700. Same problem. No matter to go to later version etc.
G7 7700. Same here, this problem Tried older version, and goes to upgrade and then it won't complete.
Just spinning balls forever when it says should take 30 seconds.
Now no keyboard lighting, no fusion, etc.
IDK, if Dell can't fix this, I'm sure I'm not the only one that will never buy Dell again.

Another thread in here somewhere got me the fix.
The problem I learned is with Dell for sure, but the guy had a solution.
You need to delete (I deleted old versions after installing) all the Visual C++ programs, then reinstall them all.
He supplied this link to install all at once. Read. Install as Admin. with the right click option.
Delete and reinstall the AECC from dell support site. I'm not a good geek, but it worked!
Here is the link. https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/

Seems like it can't start AWCCService.
You can try to start it manually in Computer Management - Services, then start AWCC again.
If service can't start manually - yes, it's a kind of VC DLL's issue. Looks strange why they don't build it with embed libraries, not dlls.

Hi @T-Troll thank you for sharing. It is strange that Dell cannot, or is not prepared to, correct their AWCC computer code. Dell has hardware quality control problems because their main board EEPROM keeps being corrupted with improper AWCC computer code. Dell will not publicly admit that their AWCC computer code is so fundamentally flawed that gaming laptop is disabled. Consequently, customers are increasingly frustrated with Dell's intransigence.

Hi @James1362 thank you for sharing. This fix was attempted when original post appeared. It did not fix AWCC's inability to have a working FX tab or failure to install all the AlienFX applications. Now AWCC update will not load and gaming is completly disabled. Could be same or different root cause. Not convinced that this AWCC fix will work on our 17 R5 laptop.

Hi @James1362 have just undertaken the Visual C++ fix, but this did not fix AWCC will not load problem on this Alienware Laptop. Operating System, Windows 10 Professional (x64) Version 2009 (build 19042.685), Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2.
This is what we did within Local Admin account. Use Revo Uninstaller Free to remove all VC applications and AWCC applications, then Restart. Use PC Settings > Windows Update to install essential VC applications, then Restart. Run as Administrator to Install AWCC v5.2.100.0 and OC Controls v1.3.11.1300, then Restart. Note: Windows Security complains that OC Controls v1.3.11.1300 update has two unsigned drivers. Dell does not fix their OC Controls update fails quality control warning (again).

Hi @T-Troll thank you for sharing check AWCCService. Went to Computer Management > Services > AWCCService which is Running, Automatic (Delayed Start). Changed to Running, Automatic, then Restart. AWCC loading problem not fixed.

Unfortunately, this AWCC loading solution does not fix everything. The previous fault condition is unchanged. The AWCC Home, FX tabs are missing and the OC Controls, AlienFX applications are not installed. The Warning that no AlienFX devices were detected reappears despite the AlienFX devices being preinstalled. We can see that Dell has not incorporated the requested "install AlienFX anyway" option.

Sad. So far it's all still good on my 2020 G7 7700.
The replacement of the Visual C++ programs worked here.

I had deleted the OC controls program.
Only re-installed the AWCC program. Then it went to update the OC controls, and it worked, then the controls program was magicly re-installed. Anyway, like I said, still good on this 2020 G7 7700.
Thank you much.

That's a bummer.
I am not a computer expert. I just did what the other guy said.
I installed all the Visual C++ programs, I deleted AWCC and OC programs.
Then I only installed AWCC from Dells drivers site. Then when I opened AWCC I had to wait a moment, then the update for the OC came up automatically. I took the update and this time it worked. Now I am getting another OC update when I open AWCC, so far I have not put that one in yet. It says it is for overclocking, and I never had that option prior, so IDK.
I wish I could help, but that's about all I can tell you. 2020 G7 7700 is what I have. Low end gamer laptop.

Okay, I just took the Controls update again. I was afraid. I followed the prompts, allowed etc.
I did not get any ability to overclock, but I never had that anyway. Still working thank goodness.

Hi @James1362 thank you for sharing update. It is good to know that your AWCC update has loaded. Many gamers use the overclocking feature, so it is bad to know that the overclocking feature has not installed for you.
