17 R5, problems with Alienware OC Controls
For the past few months I've been having trouble with the Alienware Control Center / OC Controls. Every so often, the OC Controls will indicate that an update is needed, and, after clicking on "OK" / "Yes" the install fails.
Every time this happens, the error dialog indicates that there is a log file with more detailed information :

I think I'll save my Alienware Control / OC Center theme and re-install it, and, if that doesn't work, I'll be posting another message.
Also, in the past few months, since a BIOS update and various Windows and Dell updates, I've noticed that my Alienware color profile fails to start up at boot, and even doesn't start up after Windows is started. Sometimes, if I manually launch the Alienware Control Center then that magically fixes the problem.
I'm running on a Dell Alienware 17 R5 with 32GiB of RAM and an Intel Core i9-8950HK CPU with Windows 10 Pro x64.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
jdb2

Hi @jdb2
Uninstall the current version of Alienware OC Controls from Apps & features, reboot the system and then install the new version.
If the issue persists, send me a private message with the Service Tag so I can review your case.

Thanks for your prompt reply! I apologize for my belated response.
I did as you suggested and I uninstalled Alienware OC Controls as well as the Alienware Command Center. Even though I had saved my color profiles, everything was reset anyway and I had to re-create the profile from scratch.
After having re-booted and installed the Alienware OC Controls and Command Center, I was able to install updates successfully.
The problem I'm having now is that my Alienware FX lighting sometimes doesn't show up in the pre-boot environment and I have to get it working by launching the Alienware Command Center app. Also, the app now often displays a white background with a light grey alien head, and doesn't respond. When it does launch correctly, sometimes I see several spinning circle-of-dots progress indicators that never stop. I don't know what's causing this.
Thanks and regards,
jdb2

"The application failed to load the predefined profiles, please connect to the internet and restart the application"
I have the latest versions of everything, and am connected to the internet, yet i still get this. (BIOS stuff is enabled in performance)
Also i get this...
"Data configuration file is missing or invalid. Overclocking profiles cannot be created."
I dont know what to do... any ideas?
