Hi @120xxxx welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.
What colour is the USB wireless dongle flashing? If green, dongle is trying and waiting for wireless connection to the AW988 headset. Does the wired audio cable connection work? Is the Dell AWCC application and its AW988 drivers installed?
The dongle is flashing green - the strange thing is that the headset will work with a Alienware laptop but not on the PC - everything had been working fine on it (occasionally dropping out) but yesterday it stopped - I have managed to get it connected once or twice but then it just drops back out again and the dongle starts flashing. All the drivers etc have been installed - I don't have a wired audio cable connector to try that solution. What would be the best connector to use? I use the headset for gaming and chatting online (mainly discord)
Contents of the Alienware Wireless Gaming Headset AW988 Box should have included an Audio cable (3.5 mm). If the wired connection works, then the wireless dongle connection has a problem. Please run windows Reliability Monitor and wait for event timeline to load. Look at day/time when wireless connection is not working to see if an event is created, then open event to find root cause of this connection problem. Is the AW988 connecting to a Dell PC? If yes, which model? What operating system?
If not, what model, what operating system, and how many USB ports does it have?
