It is not a discrete card like in a desktop. It is a supplemental card that kicks when needed for heavy use. It should be working fine, but you cannot select it to use alone.

edit-- Drivers must come from Dell not Nvidia. Dell customizes drivers for your exact motherboard. Go back and get the right driver at Dell Downloads.

I have followed your advice and updated the driver using Dell's specified drivers. This in turn has helped, but to a degree. It has allowed my laptop to run but about once a minute the screen freezes and resets. Is there another driver that I might be missing?

Please be sure to check the Device Manager. As sometimes a couple of drivers could often be installed with errors.
We prepared this video for cases such as that. Perhaps they could be of use to you:

Give it a test run and report back to us.

I gave it a go and it has provided a little bit more stability. Unfortunately every couple of minutes my system comes to a full stop or the screen resets. If it doesn't stop and I try to do anything with more intense graphics then my system is almost guaranteed to lock up.

Just to get this out of the way. Would you be able to download this software:
HWMonitor - https://dell.to/2PbKTqa

Have it run in idle, take a screenshot of both CPU and GPU temperatures? (We don't need the clocking speeds or anything else). And we would like to also compare it with temperatures whilst gaming. You could post them here or send them to us via Private Message. That way we can look into them as well.
