Already posted 17 R5, Alienware Light Fix (by Reflashing the SiLabs Chip) - Dell Community on 09-27-2020. In another thread, @Dell-BradL volunteered to chat with Dell Technical Support and get update.

I've posted the guide on how to do the flash, specifically on the M15x.

Your previous post just showed the old YouTube video which doesn't tell anyone what you need and how to do it.

@wantmylightsback  If you have the x15 R1 then I probably won't be able to help you as the guide I did was specifically for the M15x and the M17x R1/R2.

The Alienowners site has been shut down since this post so I'll update the link to my guide on NotebookTalk

This guide isn't for the pre-dell M15x unfortunately and it doesn't sound like you have the same problem anyway, if you still have some lights. Your machine also had a non-lit keyboard option so this may be part of your problem. The program may think that you have this keyboard installed for some reason. I don't know why though, it should be the same version of command center.

I've never had one of the Area 51 M15x laptops so I'm not entirely sure how to navigate the software.

@wantmylightsback I think it comes down to installing everything in the correct order. If you installed command center before installing other drivers and Windows updates then you can have troubles. Command Center usually required Microsoft .net Framework to be installed first.

Have a good look through these old archived posts from Notebookreview, there maybe something hidden in there.

EDIT: This looks like your exact problem

Obviously the links in the post will be dead so you'll have to search the archive to find them

thank you will have a look

when i first got machine and put fresh hard drive windows 7 installed drivers no prob  all lights lit and randomly changed colors , problem started during installation of cc i was advised i needed , problem did not clear after full reboot with windows 10 so the c2 chip fault described what happened exactly

willing to try anything to get lights back as made it so much easier for me to use

do you think flashing chip is an option ?

I'm not really sure at this stage. The chip corruption from the later M15x caused all lights to go out and would cause a Microsoft .net Framework error to pop up on screen shortly after booting.

Have you tried going back to Vista?
