lay your eyes on computex 2021,that's where major laptop releases are shown aside from ces,and yes despite the pandemic, there will be a full physical press conference in at 1st june,so expect tech tubers to do some reviews on laptops in taipei
that's when the area 51m r3 will most likely release, unless they're waiting for intel to release alder lake cpus,in that case you'll have to wait until ces 2022,which is around january 2022,i do hope that intel will surprise us and release alder lake around july, which in that case the area 51m could use that cpu,or they can just simply switch to amd since it has the crown for gaming right now(and of course productivity)
as for gpu,a custom desktop 3080 ti for the area 51m with a tdp of 200 to 250w would be a dream, but this time, they better feature that QHD 15 to 240hz display option,or else i don't think i'll buy it honestly
The CPUs will be released this month (March 2021), so expect the systems to be announced shortly thereafter if history holds.
Availability of the hardware is another matter. Given Intel's recent uneven launches and the short supply of the nVidia GPUs, it may be some months before you'll see a system -- even if you order it as soon as it hits the market.
Need OLED or MiniLED more than 1440p, they took out OLED out of the new X series which is a massive shame. However, after better screen tech, 1440p or 4K work better than 1080p as we can see in most gaming laptops this year making the jump to QHD, because the GPU can push 1440p and it has better visual quality.
My guess is it will be released next January when the 3070 3080 Super cards are out. The current mobile chips are limited to 150 watt. I'm sure Alienware would want to run a 200 watt chip for desktop performance.
