Area-51m R?, CPU i7-9700K
Hi everyone,
I have an Alienware Area-51m R? with the Intel core i7-9700K and in the last few days the frequency doesn't pass the 0.79 GHz when previously going to 3.40 - 3.60 GHz. So now it's significantly slower than before. I think that the problem started when my battery died but I cannot find a replace of it? Do you know if it has a solution?

Hi @Darknesdutch welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.
Please run the Intel Driver & Support Assistant to identify your products and get driver and software updates for your Intel hardware.
Please run the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool to verify the functionality of Intel microprocessor. This Intel diagnostic tool checks for brand identification, verifies the processor operating frequency, tests specific processor features, and performs a stress test on the processor.

Hi @Darknesdutch thank you for sharing update.
Intel diagnostic says CPU passed all tests - good news. We now try to find root cause of this problem. There is no mention of POST giving diagnostic lights/beeps, it does not test all the hardware. Please run Dell Support: F12 ePSA Diagnostics, this will test more hardware, but not everything.
Please clarify if this slow CPU problem is experienced all the time, or when running a specific application or game that requires power from both ac adapter and battery. Please create Battery Report, and F2 into BIOS menu to see battery status.
If experienced when playing a specific game, check that all game drivers are correctly installed in Device Manager, and do not have yellow warning triangles placed against them.
When running graphic intensive programmes, the Alienware Area-51m CPU Integrated graphics (UHD Graphics 630) switch over to the discrete GPU. The internal GPU is a Dell proprietary design from NVIDIA. Please check that NVIDIA settings have been optimised to play your specific game(s). The NVIDIA Control Panel is an important part of your gaming experience.
Please share an update on progress, so that other users derive benefit from your experience. Thank you.

that frecuency its all the time, in this benchmarck of a program thath i use, i always had a good performance, the batery status said that the batery was disabled and needs to back to operational temperature, but this messege apeard all the times i start the pc.
also, the batery made strange noises every time i conected the adapters, so i disconect the batery for precaution, but this low performance started when the batery show up the message for the first time

The issue is the battery itself. You need to install a new one to ensure the systems hybrid power system still works. Let me know on how that goes and I recommend checking if high performance power plan is enabled in power plans.

Plus make sure the wattage of the adapter is at least 180+330 or 240+240. The maximum would be 240+330.
