Area-51m R1, intermittent keyboard issue with certain keys o and l

Hi there,

I think I've got an Alienware Area-51m R1 bought from Dell in September 2019. <Correct, Area-51m R1. DELL-Admin>.  Recently it's having problem with my l and o keys. I've upgraded the bios. It tends to work ok after it's been off for a while, but typing is hard. Sometimes the o double types when I type 'you' it usually types 'yuo'. I've cleaned the keyboard and nothing seems stuck under those keys.

Please advise.

install this one as an administrator.

Intel HID Event Filter Driver | Driver Details | Dell India

Then I recommend you restart the laptop after it finishes and says you need to restart.

Thank you!

I've just done that and will see how it goes.  I'll report back.

Thank you so much for your help.

Hi there,

Sadly the fix didn't work.  It lasted longer, but after a lng period of use, the two keys stopped working fully again.

Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you reinstalled the HID event driver but also deleted the keyboard in the device manager? So you can go ahead and after installing the HID event filter scan for devices in the device manager and restart.

Thank you - can I just check the 'workflow' for this solution please?

1 - reinstall HID

2 - THEN delete keyboard

3 - restart

4 - scan for devices and restart

PS I have 4 'Keyboard HID devices' showing.  Do I delete all of them?

Is that the right way?

Many thanks

Are there any external Keyboards connected to it? Because you shouldn't delete all of them. But, you can always scan for devices in the device manager so i would Delete them all or remove the external keyboards.
