Area-51m R2, no backlight

Last week I broke the screen on my Area-51m R2. I know my way around the internals of a pc so i removed the broken screen. I ordered the same 300hz G-SYNC panel as the one I removed. The new panel works great but I have no backlight in the screen. I have made sure the connector is not damaged. Part numbers for the screens match. The old screen did not light up at all when it broke. I get a display just fine with external monitor. Gaming also is not affected so i think motherboard and video card are fine. I am torn between another screen or replacing the connecting cable. I am open to any advice someone may have. Warranty is not an option as it ran out in February and I did not renew.

Two screens means it's an external cause -- could be the cable, but more probable is that the high voltage input to the backlight shorted out on the system board.  While you can try replacing the cable, be prepared for the more probable cause and the need to replace the system board.  You might also want  to go over the board to check for evidently damaged components before you order a cable.

The GPU has no visible sign of damage. Both sides of the motherboard around the LCD POWER connector have no signs of damage either. I have looked over both the motherboard and GPU and there are no burned/damaged components. There is also no residual smell of a failure. Now the fun of reassembly.

Still no luck. The new screen has a warranty I believe I will start there. I am going to replace the cable also in case I damaged it and cannot see it.

Hiya did you find out the problem with the screen brightness?

My Area 51m laptop has this problem, I've been told its drivers but that made no difference. However, when the laptop comes off standby it will let me change the brightness to mid-way but after mid-way it goes back to being dim and unchangeable.

From a new keyboard and new paste on GPU and CPU still no good, I am thinking it could be the screen inverter as it works from standby to half-why then fails.

Thanks
