I fixed mine. Go to the control panel>hardware and sound>devices and printers. Then disable the monitor. The re-enable it.  Disconnect your hdmi during restart. Now mine works its just flickering rapidly. 1 problem to the next. Hope I helped

Have you done anything recent to it in anyway possible?

Have you tried Turning it off and on again with a hard reset?

Have you done a power drain before?

Have you removed the RAM and put one only?

Can you see anything on an external display when connected?

Do you see the alienHead Flashing?

Hi @seandson  try shine a light obliquely on the screen, if there is a faint image this could indicate the backlight lamp has failed or not getting power. Also, try connecting laptop to an external monitor/tv to see the laptop screen display. Please share an update.

Yes, I had run through some trouble shooting steps before entering a ticket. The motherboard was dead. To make matters worse, the second motherboard has already died. That is two motherboards and not even two years of use. I am not happy that i know have a 5K paper weight. Have had a lot of different Dell laptops in my life and never have I been this upset with my purchase. Two motherbaords within two years, It looking like the is a major issue outside the motherboard, but the motherboard is what ends up going first. From what I can tell the motherboard both last about 8 months. That is very upsetting and disappointing for the price I paid.

Evidently, there is user seandson speculation that another main board has failed, but it might not have. Just trying to help, that's what the Dell community user to user forum is all about.

sorry. I really feel sorry for you not having the 17 fixed but you’re helping others as much as you possibly can.

We brought 3 of them, one died (power button) after 12 months of service and one just semi-died (black screen with keys cycling through colors) on 8/20/2022 during the software/driver updates.  Very disappointing and upsetting and may not ever going to procure another Dell paperweights again.  The quality has definitely gone south in the recent years, very unfortunate!
