m15 R1, audio driver issues, troubleshooter always resets these to work

Good afternoon,

I need advice for a permanent fix for my audio issues (with both speakers and microphone). Many times audio stops working on my system without any apparent reason. I have to run the troubleshooter, which resets the drivers and things are back to normal for some time. I have uninstalled the drivers completely and reinstalled but the same issue is recurring.

Can anyone advise a permanent solution please?

Thank you

Hi @wdmalik please try the following.

Download and Run Malwarebytes Free to remove threats like viruses, ransomware, spyware, adware, and Trojans.

Before starting change, create Restore Point. How to Create a System Restore Point on Windows 10 or Windows 11 (howtogeek.com).  This provides option to go back before changes were made.

To start diagnose and fix windows operating system, at Type here to search (on taskbar), type Windows PowerShell and Run as Administrator (see following image). PowerShell will accept requests to improve the system's overall stability index (the blue line) within windows Reliability Monitor.

At the prompt, type/paste: chkdsk c: /r and press Enter. Accept offer to run chkdsk at next boot and reboot PC, chkdsk will run before Windows loads so be patient. Look for any unfixed errors in the chkdsk log when you get back to desktop.

At the prompt, type/paste: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and press Enter. Be sure to include a space in front of each / and note any error messages when that's done.

At the prompt, type/paste: sfc /scannow and press Enter. Be sure to include a space in front of the / and note any errors when that's done.

Restart (not Shut Down) and revisit Reliability Monitor for several days to see if things have improved. The system's overall stability index (the blue line) is assessed on a scale of 1 to 10.

Please be aware that if Reliability Monitor has many lines of "Successful Application Reconfiguration" events the Reliability Monitor Stability Index number will be low. There is some kind of abnormality between SupportAssist and other actions of Windows that is causing these Reconfiguration events to occur. Users should not have to 'solve' this problem by uninstalling the Dell SupportAssist application.
