M14x R1, I have some questions.. ?
- Service Tag : I bought a new motherboard and in the bios the service tag is empty. the number on the back cover is partly illegible! Can I leave it like this where it's really needed? Can I put another one? if so, where to find it?
- Boot on USB : In BIOS, I can't select USB to boot, it stays on HDD all the time. Is this normal?
- Windows 10 : Can we install windows 10 on this machine?
- Ram : what maximum amount of ram can we put on this model?
There you go, if I could have an answer to these questions, that would be great. Thank you in advance.

If you owned the system since new, you should be able to access the service tag through your Dell account. Other than that, no - there's no way to retrieve a lost service tag.
USB boot will only be active when a bootable USB device is attached. You can always access a USB boot with the F12 key at powerup, manually choosing the boot device - it does not need to be in Setup permanently.
Windows 10 should run fine on the system, but some Alienware-specific utilities may not under 10 -- and Dell does not support Windows 10 on these.
Max RAM is 2x4=8 G.

(1) System Service Tag: if system runs, a) at splash screen, press and hold down F2 to enter BIOS and Service Tag will be listed, b) click on Product Support and Dell will find Service Tag for you, c) Install Belarc Advisor and Service Tag will be part of motherboard's serial number.
(2) Boot on USB: Insert USB. F2 to enter BIOS and change boot order so that USB is first entry, or F12 to enter Boot window and select USB as Boot drive.
(3) Windows 10: Yes. Install Windows 10 x64. Dell Support for Alienware M14x R1 will not provide drivers and downloads. Use CPU identity to search for other Alienware that has this CPU to provide drivers and downloads for Windows 10 x64.
(4) Maximum RAM: 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3L-1600 SODIMM [Here].
