Easy fix-- replace the $2 cmos coin cell battery.

5 beeps =
CMOS battery failure

There is a disc shaped battery with a wire that connects to the motherboard. This is the CMOS battery. You may need to replace this. You can try restarting a few times and it may start working but they do fail on older machines if they have been sitting around unused for a long period.

I have also been having this issue but replacing the CMOS battery did not fix it. I get 5 beeps and my M17xR4 won't boot. I was able to boot last night but this morning it gets the same problem again.

to nns max: spam the f2 when starting, it should go to windows 7 (for my case) starting.
