M18x R2, NVMe Boot Drive
Since upgrading to a single GTX 1070 I have been wondering what to do with my secondary MXM slot. I managed to get my hands on a hard to find MXM to NVMe adapter and now I have almost full NVMe speeds in my 9 year old laptop. Pretty happy with the old girl.

you need to flash the M18XR2 A11 unlock bios which modified by SWICK1981,copy the M18R2.HDR file to your USB disk(format to FAT32),take out the battery and power cable, than plug in the USB disk to the E-SATA port which near by the HDMI IN port (at the right side of the screen),,hold the END key on the up right corner on your keyboard and at the same time plug in the power cable, keep hold the END key for about 30 seconds, you will hear the alarm, than take out your hand and wait for the BIOS flashing done.
than press F2 key to enter BIOS setting page,at the secondary Advance option, set video mode to SG mode, and set boot mode to UEFI,save setting and restart your latop, install windows10 to nvme SSD,you will see the "windows boot manager"on the bios boot drive fliter, that is your NVME SSD! enjoy !

you can ask agent for help, for example, from China to italy, you can find the International logistics first, than buy the nternational logistics service, and sent the agent adress in China to any taobao stores

This is the double M.2 ports version (force enable RAID0 with boot drive supported ,you must install 2 pices of same model and same size nvme ssd,not support single ssd mode),and tested pass on M18XR2,but it still on RD progress, max speed up to 6500MB/S(PCIE GEN 3.0 8X)

So will this work with original M18 (NOT R2)? Have one free graphics card space as other 1070 gtx.
Thanks in advance!

you mean M18XR1?nope,it have no way to add nvme support, and not support GTX10 series even if you set SG mode in the option-unlock BIOS,it only support GTX600 series,if install GTX700/800/900 series,it will crash at the boot logo

@BufferMod 700 and 800 series work fine in the M18x R1 with the right setup. 900's still won't work at this stage
This benchmark is in an R1 with SLI 880M.

I tyr to flash the unlock bios which edit by swick1981,it still not support Nvme SSD,and not support 7~9series(set to SG mode, because M18XR2 is set to SG mode to suppoet nvme SSD too)

HALF-SPEED is because pf your CPU is not support PCIE3.0(2000 series),if your CPU is 3000 series such as I7 3940MX ,it will run at 3500MB/S,the best result is 970PRO(read speed 3600MB/S,write speed 2300MB/S)

@BufferMod The R1 definitely supports the 700 and 800 series in PEG mode. It does not support the 900 series due to UEFI requirements.
