My fix for low FPS in games. Enable these NVIDIA settings.

  • Image Sharpening: Sharpening Off, Scaling Disabled
  • Ambient Occlusion: Off
  • Anisotropic Filtering: Off
  • Antialiasing – FXAA: On
  • Antialiasing- Gamma Correction: On
  • Antialiasing – Mode: Multisampling
  • CUDA – GPUs: All
  • DSR – Factors: Off
  • Low Latency Mode: Ultra
  • Max Frame Rate: Whatever your monitor refresh rate is, I like 60FPS.
  • Power Management Mode: Adaptive
  • Shader Cache: On
  • Texture Filtering Anisotropic Sample Option: On
  • Texture Filtering – Negative LOD bias: Allow
  • Texture Filtering – Quality: High Performance
  • Texture Filtering – Trilinear Optimization: On
  • Threaded Optimization: On
  • Triple Buffering: On
  • Vertical Sync: On
  • Virtual Reality Pre-Rendered Frames: 1

I tested these settings on my own Alienware systems. These settings should also work with these GPUs as listed here:
GTX 600 Series through 3000 Series mobile/non mobile
Area-51m i9-9900k/RTX 2080
m17 R1-4, m15 R4
17 R4 i7/GTX 1070
17 R5 i9/GTX 1080
15 R1/R2
X51 R1/R2/R3 GTX 1070, GTX 1660

Left a while ago, Came back just to see it's changed.
