Where to obtain DS2501 chip?

I have a 240W Delta Power Adapter with DS2501 chip. Since my notebook failed to identify the power adapter the performance was limited. So I went to internet and bought a new Dell power adapter. Now the new adapter works properly.

However the old power adapter cable looks very good. So I am suspecting the old power adapter failed due to malfunction of the DS2501 chip as this chip is used to identify the PSU. Where can I get a new DS2501 chip to replace the old one, so I would have a second power adapter as a reserve. Additionally it would help to save  environment because it would not be necessary to dispose the old power adapter.
