alienware x51 r2 video card issue

Hi there,

The video card GTX 760 ti oem from my alienware x51 R2 stopped being recognized recently. As I thought the problem with the video card itself, I ordered a new NVIDIA GTX 1060 founders edition to replace it but it was not recognized either.

How to troubleshoot the issue further ? Could it be the PCI express expansion card or the motherboard ? Are there known issues ?

Thanks for the input,

Arnaud

Hi @arnaud_gus,

Make sure the BIOS is up to date, you can also try a reinstallation of Windows just to discard any software issues. But if the issue persists, then yes, it will be a motherboard/riser card issue.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I had rebooted the system a couple of times the day when I installed the new card but nothing happened, the card was not detected. I then let the computer rest for one day. And when I rebooted the next day, the new video card GTX 1060 started to be recognized by Windows 10 and could be installed successfully.

Thanks again,

Arnaud
