m15 R1, way to lower CPU idle frequency when plugged in?
I have m15 r1 with i7-8750H. Currently when the laptop is plugged in the CPU keeps boosting to >3.8 Ghz at all times, even when there is no load (>98% Idle in task manager).
I want to let the CPU to drop its frequency to around 1Ghz when idle and plugged in, so that the laptop can be cooler. I tried editing power plans->minimum processor state in control panel and/or changing similar settings in AWCC with both balanced and performance plan. None of them work.
What I DON'T want to do: limit CPU max frequency, which reduces performance.

I have also noticed this with my M15 and it irritates me too!
When this happens, if I switch to a power plan I created that eliminates turbo, the temps drop about 3 or 4C! BUT like you said, this is not a good solution, I thought speed shift was supposed to downclock when idle?
I also notice that if I leave it for quite some time, it will eventually downclock. What the heck is it doing when it first powers on that it wants to burn power for nothing?

Ihave the same issue with Alienware 15 R2 i7 6700HQ. CPU clock stays at 3000-3290 mhz in idle.
temps around 60 - i've repasted it with grizzly recently and it's standing on a cooling pad, i use graphics amp for gaming and funny enought when i actually run cyberpunk the cpu temps drop 5-10 degrees.
Tried different power settings and also checked if intel speedstep is enabled in the bios.
