From the looks of it, you're in for a replacement system board.

If you did that then it’s a main board replacement but did you break the little plastic piece off of the flex cable slot? If so, it’s replaceable.

Hello, i have that problem o broke the little black plastic piece, do you know where can i buy one, the mother board is perfect, is only the "black littel clip" that puts presure on the cable so it doesnt move.

Hi @INXSEX  the wedge part of the connector is usually captivated within its socket. If you still have the wedge (shown as white part in image) it can still be used manually, to carefully captivate the cable.

Hello @crimsom , in  the M15 R2 the wedge of the touchpad wire is removable, and you have to put it back in after the wire to tighten up the cable to the mother board, in the case of the touchpad is a very small piece (the wege is black) and i broke that small piece trying to put it back, i spent like 2 hours trying to put it back in, it is not very well designed is so small and it comes off when you disconnect the touchpad cable.

The mother board where you insert the cable is in perfect condition, what i need is that wedge to tighten the cable on the mother board, i used thermal tape to keep it in place, but i guess it is not aplying the presure needed to work.

If you know where i can buy this it will be appreciated.

Regards.

Hi @INXSEX  these connectors come in all shapes and colours. My images are for illustration only for this type of connector. You are correct, for good electrical contact, the connector needs a wedge to press cable against its seating connectors. Parts are available, Dell Alienware 15 R2 Touchpads | Dell Alienware 15 R2 Laptop Parts (parts-people.com)

As a temporary fix, have used cardboard placed against cable during cable insertion and it works. This gives time to look on eBay for 15 R2 touchpad with replacement wedge. If your temporary fix works, this is also good. Look for Dell Alienware 15 R2 Alienware 14 / 15 / 17 / 18 Touchpad Sensor Module - DP/N 67J4J - A12CTP - HKX75 and it should be relatively easy to get a replacement wedge.

Did you find a replacement wedge? If so, would you please tell me where? Thank you!
