This SSD is designed for a system with PCIe 4.0. Yours is 3.0 -- you will likely see 32G/s throughput, but the drive is capable of more -- so unless the price delta between the 980 and 970 is small enough (or you want to carry this drive forward to a new AMD system that has PCIe 4.0 support or a future Intel system when these are released; there are none at the moment), there's no advantage over the 970 in your current system.

Ok cool, that's what I thought. So I guess I'll wait until the 970s go on sale. lol
