m15 R4, cpu and gpu crazy after windows 11 February update

Hello Everyone and sorry for my bad English since is not my first language.

I've been using my laptop for a month now. and have all the updates. but today I got the a windows 11 Update, were there was some slight small changes. like the weather widget on the left of the screen, some other internals, etc.

Before the updated I regularly work and played on the laptop, no problems at all. when I wasn't playing the CPU was on 2 to 3 GHZ of the capacity and low temps. the same for the GPU regular numbers. and everything was on the thermal setting of Balance or Cool. CPU: on my laptop is i7-10870H GPU: RTX 3070, 16 gb Ram.

When I play video games. Temperature was high. I had it on thermal setting of Full Speed and the CPU was always moving back and forward from 85 to 96 degrees. no problems at all. GPU in the middles 70s and very good performance. FPS were always on the 120 / 130 all the time.

Now that I update the laptop with the new windows 11 update that roll out, CPU is always on 4.30 GHZ even when im not doing anything not even moving the mouse GPU 210 MHZ and both on the cool side temperature between 50s and 60s. when playing the CPU never goes up more than 3.8 GHZ and the GPU is always on the 2000 mhz. FPS on the other side, is always around 80, 90, sometimes can hold the 100ders. an this is annoying.

Would it be possible that this have something to do with the update? the most annoying part is when paying games. not getting the FPS like I just to is frustrating. and i want everything to run smooth.

thanks

Hi @mroou please visit System Restore and if enabled, undo system changes to get it back to before windows 11 February update. The System Restore feature should be similar in Windows 10 and 11. How to use System Restore on Windows 10 | Windows Central

Thanks for the quick reply @crimsom. I'll check this out. What about if this wasn't enable? What can we do? Wait until the next update.

It's sad to see the CPU on 4.3 GHZ while doing nothing and as soon as I open a game or a heavy program goes to 3.1 and never go up. And frustrating.

Thanks for the help bud

Hi @mroou!

Great news! Here is a way to downgrade your system to 10 and fix these issues without reinstalling windows!

Windows 10 Manual Upgrade & Installation - Microsoft Community

You should be able to download that in the step by step tutorial I linked above and downgrade it.

Let me know if any issues occur.

Hi @mroou !

Windows after making an update should allow you to go back to the version previously.

Hold shift when restarting your laptop and you should get a menu that allows you to a update.

Dell has an article on this I think you should check out.
