m15 R4, not waking up without pressing the power button

2018 15 R4. DELL-Chris M>

My Dell m15 R4 is connected to external mouse, keyboard and monitor. My laptop lid is closed. I want to wake up my laptop by pressing any button on the keyboard without opening the lid.

I tried all the power settings options, and changes the settings in bios but still not working.

The only button that is waking up my laptop is the power button on laptop even the keyboard on the laptop is not waking up.

It seems like sleep is behaving more like hibernate.

Please help, I dont want to open the lid only to turn on the button every now and then.

I agree it is unfortunate that Alienware chooses to not support this feature. Why not (can we get a reason please)? It works on my previous Alienware laptops and is a great work flow for those who want desktop replacements plus portability.

Here is their current official response =

The USB wake features does not work on Alienware notebooks when the lid is closed

Dell, please help and restore the ability to wake without having to keep opening the lid!

I like a clean work area with my laptop out the way (especially since it blows hot ...too hot to use it's keyboard). It is the most expensive laptop I've ever purchased, and this is such a surprising, disappointing inconvenience. Not had this problem with any other laptop. Like... why would you do that???

Yes, Dell response is so stupid , to disable wake-up on external KB when the most common scenario with Lid close  is external monitor & KB!
