m15 R6, does not power on, warranty question

Developed fault 5 times in a row in 5 months. Power button does not respond to press after RTC and CMOS reset. Has error "Time of day not set - please run SETUP program" in BIOS power log. Has to be reflashed by Currys each time.

My question is, why do Dell refuse to repair the product and tell me to go to "Dixon's" (unrelated Currys subsidiary)? What is the "parts only" Basic Plan my device ships with and how can I get the service MSI and ASUS have always given me?

Hi @efxtres welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

The Alienware m15 R6 laptop was purchased with Retail warranty, and no OEM Dell warranty. This means that Wholesale purchase by Retailer is less money, and you pay for Retailer's warranty. Large organisations can get these deals.

To get OEM Dell warranty, check sales criteria before purchase.

You can check with Warranty and Service Extension - Dell Community to see if your system can subsequently qualify for OEM Dell extended warranty.

Written off as faulty by Currys.

Fascinating. Will chase up my retail service agreement then (which seems to have cost me as much money without the OEM expertise that Dell online store ships with).
