m15 R6, must press power button twice to turn it on
I have this weird issue I'm experiencing. I have the alienware m15 R6 laptop and I have to press the power button twice to turn it on. The first time I press it the alien head light turns on then it goes off, so I press the power button once more and then the computer will turn on. I took it into best buy and told them about my problem and they said it was odd so they exchanged it for me and the second one is doing the same thing. I searched the internet for possible solutions and I only found two. one was to turn off fast startup mode but that did nothing and second was to look in the bios which best buy geeksquad did but they didn't find anything. What could it be?

Hello,
Maybe I have the solution.
I bought my m15 R6 few days ago and I needed to press the power button twice too. But sometimes 3 or 4 times. Then I restored the BIOS to Factory Settings, it helped a little, just needed to press the power button twice. The BIOS version was 1.4.3.
Then I looked for a news BIOS version on the drivers page. I just updated the BIOS to the version 1.5.1 and I have no longer this problem!
Download the .exe one and install it. Tell me if it works for you!

have you got a graphics amplifier attached? because that can cause the powerup lag / need to press power button twice

Run a Power drain on the laptop. Did it happen as soon as you got it out of the box or it happened later on?
The power drain process is as followed:
Play a 2 Hour Video on high preformance mode and maximum brightness for the laptop to die on youtube.
Hold power button for 15 sec after the laptop died where the light is flashing red and the screen is off.
Open up the bottom panel and disconnect the Battery plug going to the motherboard.
Hold the power button for 30 seconds.
Plug the battery back in and close the bottom panel.
Plug in AC Adapter and leave laptop to charge.
Then try turning it on again.

I bring it back at Bestbuy and they did a battery reboot (Kind of what 5 Tungsten was proposing).Seems to be ok now. I'll tell keep you update if it worked out or not.

Disconnect the battery from the motherboard and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Then plug the battery back in and charge it.
That should fix the issue.
